Events
Beginning with a Magnolia Street festival in 1998, FWSI has continued to partner with local businesses, volunteers, residents, musicians, and artists to sponsor exciting community events that draw thousands to the district. Over the years these events have become one of the most exciting and rewarding components of our organization’s work.
FWSI present four signature community events: ArtsGoggle, Friday on the Green, Open Streets and Chili on the Green. In addition, the organization presents an annual banquet and monthly breakfasts and happy hours hosted by FWSI member businesses.
This section provides information on all of the FWSI events as well as others that attract thousands of visitors to the Near Southside each year.
ArtsGoggle
ArtsGoggle is a grassroots gallery crawl held showcasing the work of more than 300 artists and 100 bands. Over 90 Near Southside businesses are transformed into art galleries for one Saturday each October, hosting artists and musicians from the neighborhood and throughout the region. Don’t miss it!

2016 Fort Worth South, Inc. Shindig
The Fort Worth South, Inc. Annual Banquet is our organization’s showcase event and primary fundraiser. The banquet is always a great time, and it’s also an entertaining way to catch up on progress in the district.

Friday on the Green
Friday on the Green regularly attracts hundreds during the warm weather months with the region’s best live music, tasty food and drinks, and the fun and relaxed atmosphere of a big neighborhood picnic. Beginning in 2012, the event is moving to the SECOND Friday. Please leave your coolers and food at home to support the event to the keep admission free.

Open Streets
Open Streets was presented by FWSI for the first time in 2011. The event closes Magnolia Avenue and other streets to traffic and creates an urban playground for cyclists, food trucks, dog-walkers, skateboarders, yoga classes, facepainters and much more.

FWSI Member Breakfasts
A FWSI-member business hosts a breakfast at 8:00 a.m. on the first Wednesday of each month. Hosting is a great way to showcase your business. Hosts provide a light breakfast buffet, and attendees have an opportunity to network with other Near Southside leaders.

FWSI Happy Hours
Held on the fourth Thursday, 5:30-7:30 pm, FWSI Happy Hours are another great opportunity to meet and catch up with others interested in revitalizing the Near Southside. For hosts, happy hours are a fun and relaxed way to introduce FWSI members and guests to your business.

Other Near Southside Events
There are many other exciting events throughout the year, including Joe’s Run, Rahr Oktoberfest 5k, the Cowtown Marathon, Broadway Off Broadway, the Fairmount Home Tour, and more. Coming for the first time in 2012: the Mayor’s Southside Ride bike rally!
