A BRIEF HISTORY OF ARTSGOGGLE

Since its inception in 2003, ArtsGoggle has spotlighted and strengthened the unmatched community spirit of Fort Worth’s Near Southside.  This one-day event has served to celebrate our neighborhood, showcase our locally owned small businesses, and, most importantly, highlight the talents of hundreds of Fort Worth artists.  In addition, ArtsGoggle brings together neighborhood friends while offering those unfamiliar with the Near Southside a new perspective of the district. What started eleven years ago as a grassroots event has evolved into one of Fort Worth’s most celebrated festivals, with thousands in attendance and hundreds of participating artists each year. This free-to-the-public, family-friendly event attracts a crowd as diverse as the neighborhood itself with live music, artistic displays of every kind, food, drink, and fun for everyone!  Each fall dozens of businesses in the Near Southside will become art venues and open their doors to show off the work of more than 350 local artists and the music of more than 100 bands. The public is invited to park their cars and rediscover this revitalized urban neighborhood by foot or bicycle, including Fort Worth Bike Sharing bikes.ArtsGoggle is presented by Historic Southside, Inc. in partnership with Fort Worth South, Inc., the non-profit redevelopment organizations working to revitalize this important urban neighborhood. Each year record ArtsGoggle attendance attests to the success of the Near Southside community. We hope you will experience it for yourself.

CHANGES TO THE 2015 ARTSGOGGLE

Due to construction, South Main Village will not participate in ArtsGoggle this year.  We look forward to their return next year as they welcome a newly redesigned S. Main Street.

Park Place Village embraces an exciting twist on the traditional artist block party.  Instead of lining the street with artists tents, they’ll be filling the it with the art of classic cars.  Enjoy a classic car show and street festival on Park Place Avenue.  Artists who specialize in automobilia or use car parts in their art are strongly encouraged to apply to participate at Park Place Village.

Last year we broke the record!  ArtsGoggle hosted more than 350 participating artists, 8,000 patrons and 100 bands at our 2014 event so this year we are preparing to close Magnolia Avenue to car traffic (from 8th Avenue to Hemphill Street and S. Jennings to St. Louis Avenue) and placing all outdoor artists booths on the street. More information about this coming soon.  Please assume that if you are registering as an outdoor artist on Magnolia Avenue you will be participating in our large outdoor artist block party unless you otherwise request a specific venue.
