Music, Theater, & Art

The Near Southside is home to a large concentration of artists and musicians, as well as a community that embraces and encourages creativity. That community passion is regularly on display in various venues throughout the district. Live theater, great music, gallery exhibits, and instructional classes of all kinds are easy to find.

SiNaCa Studios offers a rich assortment of activities at their nationally-recognized glass art school and gallery on Magnolia Avenue.  Their monthly demonstrations draw big crowds and often attract new glass art students in the process.  Arts Fifth Avenue is a nonprofit visual and performing arts space that the Star-Telegram calls “invaluable to the arts scene in Fort Worth.” Stage West, located on W. Vickery Blvd., presents a wide variety of productions and offers great dinners before performances.  Soon the Live Oak Lounge will open as a live music club and neighborhood lounge, with performances by the region’s top acts.

Artist Julie Lazarus, who has 11 years of work in Murano, has her gallery on Park Place with paintings and glass sculptures. The former Landers Machine Shop at 211 Bryan is a popular art and performance venue that supports emerging artists and musicians. The Art Station, in a beautifully restored fire station on Park Place, offers art therapy and community programs to children and adults.
