November’s retail seminar at the Moncrief Cancer Institute’s Educational Center will feature developer Monte Anderson (Belmont Hotel, Duncanville Main Street, MidTowne Midlothian) and urban design firm Ash+Lime. These experts will present proven case studies providing nuts and bolts lessons on the financing and construction of retail spaces for local entrepreneurs, in projects that make solid investments for developers and lenders. 

FWSI is excited to host this important conversation with interested developers, architects, builders, and business owners. We recognize that the Near Southside needs more local shops to create a complete “live, work, play” neighborhood and to foster homegrown entrepreneurs. We hope you’ll help us make it happen.

The district has been successful in attracting a broad spectrum of businesses in recent years, with health sciences continuing to dominate, and also an exciting surge in creative firms. In addition, the steady influx of new restaurants, pubs, craft breweries, wine bars, and live performance venues have helped give the Near Southside a regional reputation as a destination, and have also made the district much more desirable to new residents. More than ever, we hear a wish list from those local residents and workers for more clothing stores, grocers and markets, and other local retail businesses.
