Fort Worth South

South Main Street

South Main Street is the hub of one of the Near Southside’s three designated urban villages.  Business and property owners have worked over the last decade to reverse years of disinvestment, and their efforts are now paying off as S. Main gains more attention and investment.  Completed projects such as the historic Sawyer Lofts and Miller Lofts projects have helped secure a bright future for South Main Village.  The street’s future looks bright as well, as FWSI worked with the City to secure $4.5 million for streetscape improvements.  Deferred maintenance has left the roadway in poor condition and requiring full reconstruction, so FWSI is working with the City on a holistic project to combine the streetscape enhancements with full street reconstruction as well as water and storm sewer upgrades.  The goal is to create a street that complements and capitalizes on the distinct historic character of South Main, and also helps trigger significant private investment along the corridor.
