Fort Worth South

Rosedale Street

Rosedale Street serves as the largest east-west thoroughfare through the Near Southside, connecting to Interstates 30 and 35W at the west and east ends, respectively.  A road widening project completed several years ago by TxDOT focused too exclusively on moving traffic at high speeds through the district, and had a detrimental impact on pedestrian-scaled redevelopment along the corridor.  That condition will be addressed through a major streetscape enhancement project that will install median and roadside landscaping along West Rosedale between 8th Ave. and South Main St. beginning in 2012.  The project will transform this section of Rosedale from a six-lane road to four lanes, with the outside lanes converted to on-street parking spaces and landscape islands with street trees.  The extra space will also allow for bike lanes in each direction.  The new Rosedale will be more consistent with the goal to create “complete streets” throughout the Near Southside and also help promote significant redevelopment along the corridor.
