| Mixed-Use
Zoning
The current zoning
map of the development district reflects years of uncoordinated,
site specific, zoning decisions have left a mishmash of adjacent
land use categories.
In order to bring some order to this situation, in
2001 the City Planning Department, in collaboration with central
city redevelopment organizations, secured the approval of
the City Council to create two new categories of zoning that
allow, by legal right, a property owner to have more than
one use on a given parcel of land.
This change in city policy is described in attached
guide to Fort Worth's Mixed-Use zoning classifications.
There are incentives
integrated into the MU zoning such as a reduction in parking
requirements for new developments.
