Summit, located just north of the Westchester Plaza Apartments. This is the largest residential appraisal firm in Tarrant County, founded in 1989, with eight appraisers. The company decided to buy a 3,500 square foot building instead of renewing their office lease for $16/sf in a building north of the freeway. Main (east side of Main Street at Magnolia) President John Arend heads a staff of 12 offering a full range of marketing communications services. Curriculum includes everything from Advanced Placement courses in many of the typical academic subjects to an array of technical programs. The school's 2-page list of Points of Pride profiles an extraordinary set of accomplishments that confirms what Superintendent Tom Tocco has been saying - FWISD is back. It's very encouraging to parents who want and need the ISD to excel. No Longer Andy's - Cook Children's Home Health will be relocating into the former Andy's Supermarket on Eighth Avenue in December 2000 from their current location on Pennsylvania Avenue at Westchester Plaza. This element of the Cook Children's pediatric service to the community provides quality patient oriented care within the dynamics of the pediatric home health care environment. In a year they provide 80,000 hours of private duty nursing, 2,900 skilled nursing visits, 3,000 rehabilitation visits, and all sorts of therapy and related support. Home Health will be remodeling the 13,500 sf building for five years. Sixty employees will work at the site to support another 140 staff members who are with the kids at their homes. The building will also serve as a storage facility for the specialized equipment used at the homes. Spring Palace - For the history buffs, the extraordinary Spring Palace was built in 1889. It was a 3-story building 225 feet by 375 feet with a large center dome of 150 feet in diameter (at the time second only to the U.S. Capital rotunda). It was constructed of any and every flammable material, and was destroyed by fire on May 30, 1890. It was located on the north side of W. Vickery Boulevard just east of Jennings Avenue, where the May Advertising is located today. At that time, the main line of the Texas and Pacific Railroad(later the Union Pacific) was located along the corridor that now is occupied by old I-30 and Lancaster Street.
