The mission of the Lighthouse for the Blind of Fort Worth -- a non-profit organization -- is to provide services to assist legally and totally blind individuals to achieve their highest level of personal and economic self-sufficiency, consistent with their specific skills, general abilities, and interests.

Founded in 1935 by Willie Fay Lewis, a blind woman sent to Fort Worth to "find a handful of blind people and see what she could do to help them," the Lighthouse has grown over seven decades and now includes two major operations for the visually handicapped at its 80,000 square foot site.
