Ensuring a safe neighborhood is a top priority for the Near Southside, and tremendous progress has been made over the last decade.Although the perception of crime was always greater than the reality, crime rates in the district through the 1980s and much of the 1990s were too high, forcing the City and Fort Worth South, Inc. to increase efforts to reverse this long-standing trend.
Through close partnerships among the City's Police Department, neighborhood watch associations, and the private security forces of the major hospitals and other major businesses, we have been able to improve neighborhood safety over the last decade.
