South Main Village is an area designated by the City of Fort Worth for revitalization. (In addition to South Main Village, the Near Southside is fortunate to have two other designated urban villages: Evans and Rosedale Village and Magnolia Village.)
South Main Village is roughly bounded by I-30 to the north, I-35W to the east, Pennsylvania Ave. to the south, and Jennings Ave. to the west.
An interdisciplinary team led by local firm Turner Collie & Braden completed a long-term redevelopment plan for South Main Village in 2007. The plan identifies potential catalyst development projects as well as public improvements to accelerate investment in the village.
Among those public improvements, the plan prioritizes the redesign of S. Main as a highly walkable, low-speed street that promotes compatible infill redevelopment.
The City Council adopted the South Main Urban Village Plan in December 2007.
