The adoption of the Near Southside Development Standards and Guidelines in November 2007 was a culmination of a decade-long effort to update the district's outdated zoning and development standards.
The effort soon attracted attention from a national group working to promote similar zoning updates throughout the country.
The Form-Based Codes Institute presented the 2008 Driehaus Form-Based Codes Award to Fort Worth South, Inc. and the City of Fort Worth at the 2008 Congress for the New Urbanism.
